Grandparents with GrandkidsFamily Law Lawyer Serving New Mexico

The statute for grandparent visitation is short and rarely used. In general, it is assumed that grandparents have access to their grandchildren through the parents, and the Court will not interfere with the parents’ decisions. However, under certain circumstances, the Court will enter orders providing grandparents with visitation, including the death of a parent, or if the grandchild has lived with the grandparents for a certain length of time.
